HORSE STALLS

1.Strip stall completely leaving no trace of old bedding. Do not use lime before installing Woody Pet. Lime works against the odor removal ability of this product.

2.10 x 12 stall: Start with 3-4 bags on rubber mats, 5-6 bags without rubber mats. 12x12 stall: Start with 4-5 bags on rubber mats, 6-7 bags without rubber mats.

3.Sprinkling water over the bedding in the beginning will make it fluff up immediately and will eliminate dust, but is not necessary as this will happen as it absorbs urine.

4.Do not remove the wet spots until the granulated new product expands into fluffy sawdust throughout the entire stall. Clean the stalls by removing the manure and mix the wet areas with the dry, making sure that you scrape to the floor in wet areas and bring in the dryer bedding from the outer edges of the stall mixing it well with the wetter bedding. The object is to have the dryer bedding draw the excess moisture from the wetter bedding until the entire stall reaches the desired moisture content. On average this should take from one to two weeks. The desired moisture content is when the bedding feels quite damp to the touch but does not transfer into the knee of your blue jeans when kneeling in it.

5.At this time start removing the wet spots and replace with about 1/3 as much new bedding, or, remove the wet spots daily and add a bag of fresh bedding each week, or, open up the wet spots and add fresh bedding. Whichever way you do this you must mix the entire stall completely to allow the new bedding to draw the excess moisture from the wetter bedding.

6.Please note: If the odors do not disappear at this point, check the stall for dark or red spots. These spots are areas that have been over-saturated with urine for too long a time and must be removed immediately. These spots are usually the results from improper mixing and, or not having enough bedding in the stall.

7.In summer heat, or in hot dry climates, because of excessive evaporation, or if the animal is not putting enough urine into the bedding to keep it damp, sprinkle water on the bedding as needed mixing thoroughly to keep it damp. This will eliminate dust and odors.

SOLVING ODOR PROBLEMS

If Woody Pet Professional Animal Bedding is left over saturated with urine for too long a time it cannot keep the ammonia odor absorbed. When this happens the ammonia odor will be released and the bedding will turn dark or red and must be removed immediately to eliminated the ammonia odor. Sometimes this happens in the beginning when folks are still learning the proper management of the bedding and is overcome in time. However because some horses have a much stronger ammonia odor in their urine which cannot be absorbed and locked in as easy as it can be from most of the other horses, and because a strong ammonia odor from just one or a few stalls will stink up the entire stable we have another product to solve this problem in these few stalls as well as other odor problems. Click on Woody Pet Horse Stall Deodorizer.

SOLVING DUST PROBLEMS

Smaller pieces of bedding can easily become airborne with enough air movement if the bedding is not kept damp enough. Ideally the bedding should feel damp to the touch but not transfer into the knee of your blue jeans when you kneel on it. Keeping the bedding damp eliminates the dust as well as both wet & dry hoof problems. Solving Hoof Problems and Hoof Care Click on Woody Pet Professional Hoof Oil.

SOLVING MUCKING OUT AND STALL CLEANING PROBLEMS
